This cit­i­zens’ ini­tia­tive to pro­mote art has left its mark on the moun­tain town of Oer­ling­hausen and beyond, deci­sive­ly influ­enc­ing cul­tur­al life. Since its foun­da­tion in 1976 by young Oer­ling­hausen cit­i­zens, the Kun­stvere­in Oer­ling­hausen has held more than 230 exhi­bi­tions, enabling inter­est­ed cit­i­zens to engage with and enjoy con­tem­po­rary art. This con­sis­tent work, car­ried out vol­un­tar­i­ly by all mem­bers, is appre­ci­at­ed by artists too, and has helped to raise the pro­file of the Kun­stvere­in Oer­ling­hausen beyond the region. I also con­tribute by updat­ing the web­site con­tent on a vol­un­tary basis.
